Speeding up SEO
SEO takes time. Everyone (you would think) knows that. Search engines won't let you rank instantly and there is nothing much you can do about it.
There are times though, that you need to speed up a bit. Maybe you've got a crazy client or you've been procrastinating a bit and need some results - fast!
What can you do?
Kick off with some link building. Do you need to do some on-site optimization that will take a few days? Or maybe you think some site architecture problems need sorting out first? Ok, but unless there is something that needs your immediate attention, start off with some link building. This will pay off in quicker results as search engines need times to recalculate the link flow.
Do the most important optimisation elements first. Optimise your title tags and add the keywords you are targeting to your content right at the beginning to start some movement in the rankings at once.
Search engines take time to find and recalculate links throughout the Web. This doesn't mean there isn't anything you can do speed up this process.
Actually, Google as well as the other search engines is concentrating a lot of resources on providing fresher and fresher results. They want to provide the newest content as quick as possible. As an SEO you can use this to your advantage. How?
Create buzz. Especially worthwhile are links from blog posts, as these get crawled in a special way by Google. Add in some social media noise (Twitter, Digg, Delicious) and you will shorten the time Google re-evaluates your rankings.
Try doing the same things with links you build throughout the Web. Get some social media sources and/or blogs to link to the sites you have put your links on. You make the search engines find your links faster and help yourself in the long run. Be careful not to over do it though. You don't want all your links do get noticed in one day and then have no new ones. Balance it out and it will work.
By combining these methods you can get meaningful improvements in Google not in months or weeks, but often in days or in some cases even hours.
